Vehicles in Germany's Town Found Marked with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Law Enforcement State

Incident location Affected vehicle Local Police
Police reported they were alerted by a individual who noticed a car in Hanau covered with red-colored liquid

Roughly fifty vehicles have been smeared with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by police.

Automobiles, building surfaces and mailboxes were marked, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they announced in a statement.

Officers report they were notified late on Wednesday, when a man discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued liquid.

The liquid had been drawn in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they added.

Officers then discovered many other marked cars and house walls in the surrounding area.

Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public display of Nazi symbols.

Law enforcement report preliminary tests indicate the substance was most likely human bodily fluid.

"There is still no lead as to its origin; investigators are presently not informed of any physical harm in connection with the incident," they commented.

Local authorities stated they were trying "to unravel the incident" and have appealed to the residents for information.

An important official said the vandalism left him without words and had to be solved quickly.

"This incident hits the very heart of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the far-right violent incident five years ago," he wrote on social media, recalling the murder of nine individuals by a shooter targeting residents of foreign heritage in February 2020.
