A group of ten convicted of digital abuse targeting Brigitte Macron

A court in Paris has found guilty ten people for engaging in the cyber-bullying of Brigitte Macron, the partner of French President, Emmanuel Macron.

The accused individuals faced accusations of disseminating fabrications regarding her sex and sexual orientation, in addition to making defamatory statements about the couple's 24-year age gap.

The court handed down conditional custodial sentences of as much as eight months to the defendants. The detailed judgment has yet to be released.

A circulating conspiracy theory suggesting that Brigitte Macron is a person assigned male at birth has spread widely since her husband's initial election in 2017.

This recent ruling in France is concurrent with the Macrons engaging in a legal action for defamation in the United States of America against political commentator Candace Owens, who has also voiced analogous false narratives about the French president's wife's biological sex.

Their complaint states that Owens ignored any factual proof contradicting her allegations in favour of platforming known conspiracy theorists.

Owens has frequently reiterated these assertions on her digital program and social media channels, and in March 2024 declared that she would stake her entire professional reputation on her belief that Mrs. Macron is in fact a man.

Brigitte Macron first met her current spouse when she worked as an educator at his high school.

The two tied the knot in 2007, when the man who would become president was 29 and she was in her mid-50s.
